Changeable weather

We are having changeable weather here.

Thoughts on Photography.

For me photography is an enjoyable struggle to try and capture what I see in my mind.
I am not used to just seeing something and having a desire to photograph it. I have always gone out with the purpose of taking a photo and most times I have a good idea of what I want before I even see it. The problem is when I arrive, what I imagined isn’t there!
The easiest thing for me is working with somebody else who has a bit of talent. For example it is great photographing a model who is also an Art student as they have so many ideas. I would love to photograph David Bailey.
Hard for me is to be presented with a so called photogenic scene. I have to go into overdrive and try to find something different. I’m always aware of doing useless snaps or record shots of a scene thousands of others have done before.

Sigma 10-20mm

I first bought a Sigma 10-20mm back in February. I found that example to have a serious decentred focus problem and the shop ordered another example for me.
The next one was just as bad if not worse. Around the end of March I found a third example at another shop. This was also faulty.
Last week I at last found a decent example of this lens.

This lens is well worth having (Tamron 11mm or Tokina/Pentax 12mm probably better) but always try before you buy. Do plenty of square on shots at different distances and check sharpness on the left and the right sides. The lens is often way off on the left side. A search of flickr photos from the 10-20mm viewed at large shows the problem is very common but some people don’t seem to mind?
